Paul Moore is a man driven by a curiosity about the natural world. As intrigued by the wide varieties of moss as he is by the way light illuminates and animates the landscape, Paul is drawn toward beauty and knowledge with a passion for sharing what he has discovered through his photography, speaking and consulting.
His keen eye and inquisitive disposition make him a dynamic and poignant photographer, capturing the many layers and perspectives of the world missed by most of us. His photography has been featured in major publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Garden Design, Fine Gardening, and Southern Living Magazines, as well as many books and calendars.
His journey into plants began in earnest in 1980 when he opened Nashville staple Moore & Moore Garden Center with his parents, which he ran for nearly 35 years. During this time, he became interested in native plants and organic gardening techniques. To test his theories and concoctions, he invested countless hours into his garden in Nashville, TN, now designated a "Botanical Sanctuary" by United Plant Savers. As his mastery grew, a new passion emerged, and in 2011 he began transitioning his grass lawn over to moss. His thirst for knowledge turned this passion into a career, and he has national recognition as a moss expert.
Today you will often find him speaking at conferences, advocating for the earth, leading nature hiking tours for local parks, and hosting tours through his ever-expanding home garden. He currently resides in his homes in both Nashville and Coalmont, TN, and spends his free time exploring the mountains of Southeast TN with his family.
